Strong in Grace 2 Timothy 4:1–8 I charge you . . . : preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort. 2 Timothy 4:1–2 What a tremendous charge, especially in light of the situation in the church and world that Timothy lived in. How could Timothy possibly hope to carry it out? It seems to me that there are three answers. First, this is God’s charge to Timothy and the charge of the Lord Jesus Christ, not merely Paul’s charge.

Word of the Living God 2 Timothy 3:14–17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable. 2 Timothy 3:16 It is in the Bible alone that we can learn of God’s redemption of sinners in Christ, and it is through the Bible and on the basis of the Bible that the Spirit speaks to individuals. Without the Scriptures our imagined wisdom runs to mere foolishness.
Episode 249: Art and God with Dave Strunk
Join podcast producer Gianna Lazzaro as guest host alongside Dave Strunk, Moderator of the 45th General Assembly, for the first episode of a special four-week series exploring God and art. In this conversation, Gianna and Dave dive into foundational questions about the nature of art and beauty, defining art as a gratuitous human creation of beauty and an intrinsic act that flows from being made in God’s image.
Roman Catholicism and Christian Unity
Mark Gilbert joins Camden Bucey to examine what Protestants and Roman Catholics mean when they speak of Christian unity. Drawing on Gilbert’s conversion from Roman Catholicism and his work equipping churches to speak with Catholics about Jesus, they contrast a unity grounded in the Spirit’s work through the Word with Rome’s institutional claim to mediate grace and gather humanity into one visible communion.

The Word of Truth 2 Timothy 2:14–15 A worker . . . rightly handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 The Bible is given by God in order to provoke a personal response in us. Consequently, if we do not allow that to happen, we inevitably misuse the Bible (even in studying it) and so pervert its intention and misinterpret it. We have an example of this from Christ’s day in his words to the Jewish leaders, as recorded in John 5. On this occasion Jesus said, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life;

Remember the Resurrection 2 Timothy 2:1–13 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead. 2 Timothy 2:8 We are to remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ because, if we do remember it, we will always have a satisfying gospel. The truth of the resurrection of Jesus Christ satisfies. There is much in life that is not satisfying. We may be satisfied for a time. But the pleasures soon pale and satisfaction fades. When we are young and life lies before us, the offerings of the world are not bad, it seems.

Why Christ Became Man 1 Timothy 2:1–7 Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all. 1 Timothy 2:5–6 The death of Christ on the cross is the true meaning of the incarnation. Christmas by itself is no gospel. The life of Christ is no gospel. Even the resurrection is no gospel. For the Good News is that sin has been dealt with, that Jesus has suffered its penalty for us and as our representative so that we might never have to suffer it, and that therefore there is nothing left for all who should believe on him but heaven.
Ligon Duncan | The Davidic Covenant
On this episode of What Christians Believe, host Derek is joined by Ligon Duncan to discuss the Davidic Covenant. They walk through 2 Samuel 7, tracing how God’s promise to build David a “house” concentrates the earlier covenant threads from Abraham and Moses into a single royal line, and how that promise, seemingly broken by the exile, finds its full and surprising fulfillment in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
