Gluttony and the Fullness of God
Canto VI of Dante’s Inferno paints a sobering scene. Dante and Virgil have just arrived in the third ring of hell, where God punishes the sin of gluttony. An accursed rain — cold, foul, toxic — pours down on the circle. The eternal deluge turns the ground into a horizonless slough of stinking refuse. Dante beholds a mess of souls lying prone on the ground and drowning in this thick paste. Like great slugs, they can barely move beneath the weight of their sins’ consequences. Yet as heavy as they seem, they are insubstantial;
Advice and resources for a new father
Hello all! My wife and I are expecting our first child toward the beginning of next year. I wanted to reach out and see if there have been any resources apart from the scriptures that have been particularly helpful. Of course if there are any specific passages that have been encouraging to you or advice from wise men and women these would be more than welcome as well!

When a thread is removed due to moderation, is it possible to remove the text of the thread but leave the title and in replace the first post with a notification? This would prevent wasting a bunch of time looking for something that isn’t there.
Father Josiah?
I was talking to a guy at my job yesterday who is Greek Orthodox, and we were talking about what they believe. Anyway, he ended up telling me about this guy father Josiah, and I looked him up real quick, and I will say I was very impressed with some of his insights. Are any of you familiar with

When the Word Became English
ABSTRACT: William Tyndale’s New Testament remains significant not just because of its inherent achievement and impact when it was first published in the sixteenth century. His work of translating the New Testament into English continues to shape English Bible readers and translation efforts in three spheres: translation theory, matters of diction and style for English Bible translations, and Bible literacy in English-speaking lands. Five hundred years later, English-speaking Christians have abundant reason to thank God for Tyndale.
Phone options for a teenager
Hi friends, I'm doing some research on my parents' behalf into a good phone to get for my sister. She is starting to drive and my parents would like her to have a phone with the ability to call, text, and use GPS. However, they would also like the phone to have very minimal / no internet access. If anyone has good phone options, experience in this search or good advice I would be glad to hear it. Thank you!

Good morning, my fellow college football lovers! Week 6 is here, and even down here in Houston it is apparent that autumn is in the air - it only reached a high of 80 degrees yesterday. The State Fair of Texas is well underway, and the Red River Shootout is this weekend... but alas, the game

Did God Really Silence Women?
“Women should keep silent.” Case closed? Not quite. Other passages have women praying and prophesying. Maybe the problem isn’t Scripture’s consistency, but ours.
Jehovah's Witnesses and Christians: What Are the Essential Differences?
Jehovah’s Witnesses claim to be Christians, but there are irreconcilable differences between the teachings of the Watchtower and the teachings of the Bible. We focus on three of these key differences for this week’s Magazine Monday episode, as we read a letter from a former Jehovah’s Witness who came to a real faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Essence vs. substance in WSC / Baptist Catechism
In the question on the Trinity, the WSC states that the three persons of the Godhead are "the same in substance" - but the Baptist Catechism says "the same in essence". Is there any significance to this change? Why was it made?
Particularly insightful Ai answer to an enduring theological question
At times I pose questions in Ai to test it’s accuracy and reliability, or see if I am missing any points of understanding regarding this or that theological topic. I found this answer particularly insightful and thought I would share it. Not interested in controversy or debate; however, constructive feedback from both sides is welcome.
